HOMEWORK

Homework is essential for academic success.

It is intended to provide pupils with the opportunity to work by themselves, to consolidate or extend work covered in lessons and to develop the habit of private study. We set homework and expect it to be done. Homework may take a variety of forms such as: writing, reading, research and other learning tasks. We expect that in Years 7and 8, pupils will do at least one to one and a half hours per night, at least one and a half hours in Year 9 per night and in Years 10 and 11 at least two hours per night. If pupils work to this schedule then this will give them, over a five-year period, the equivalent of an extra year's schooling. Pupils and families are supported in this important aspect of school through regular Study Support sessions, The Big Breakfast Club and Homework Clubs.
