EXAM RESULTS 08/09
This year our results were excellent with pupils achieving record grades.
As can be seen from the following information at Woodlands our exam results have improved steadily over the last twenty years.
This year 62% of our pupils gained 5 or more A* - C grades with 53% achieving 5 or more A*-C grades including Maths and English Language.
This is the first time we have broken the 60% barrier and is now the fifth year in succession that our pupils have achieved 50+% 5 or more A* - C grades. The figures are in line or above other high achieving schools in particular the figure including English and Maths puts us in the top 30% of schools.
Our total number of A* - C grades in 2009 was 62% and is best ever figure we have achieved.
It is also significantly higher than the average for the area. This is a remarkable feat and demonstrates our commitment to raising pupil achievement.
Our entry rate was again extremely high at 100%.
65% of pupils gained an A* - C grade in Mathematics, 57% in Science overall, 60% in English, 55% in English Literature, 55% in History, 72% in Geography, 65% in German, and 55% in French.
High results were also obtained this year in Applied Performing Arts (88%), Expressive Arts (94%), Drama (77%), Media Studies (83%), Music (86%), Applied Art and Design (53%), Art (76%), Dance (100%), Textiles (80%), ICT (73%), BTEC PE (84%), Statistics (100%) and GCSE PE (57%).
100% of our pupils gained at least 1 A*-G grade with 94% achieving 5 or more A*-G grades.
83% of our pupils gained at least 1 GCSE at grade C or above.
We anticipate that over 85% of our pupils will now go on to further education with over 50% starting A-Level courses or other Level 3 courses.
This year virtually all of our pupils enjoyed success in their GCSE exams. Our analysis of the results leads us to believe that the vast majority of pupils achieved their potential.
