PUPIL VOICE

The importance of consulting pupils about their views on their school and their learning is a key development in the whole area of personalised learning. There is an active School Council and five year group Councils (two pupils are represented from every tutor group )
The pupils participate in a whole range of consultation events. Some of which, are listed below::

- Building Schools for the future
- School Development Plans
- Teaching and Learning
- Revision guides
- School Council – roles and responsibilities
- Review of Year 7 induction year
- Styles of learning
- ICT in the classroom
- Pupil voice conferences (Canteen/healthy schools/ICT/graffiti/ toilets/environment/uniform)
- Training in public speaking and communication
- Leadership training ( National College for School Leadership)
- Lunchtime activities and surveys (SKY TV)
In addition, we do expect and support our pupils in becoming actively involved in the life of their school, neighbourhood and wider community, in developing the skills of enquiry , negotiation and communication through the exploration of social and cultural issues and in developing skills of participation, decision making and responsible action.
