Woodlands School Essex

COMMUNITY

Woodlands School has developed strong links with the community. We have excellent links with our local Primary Schools. This ensures that children who come to Woodlands arrive at a school which they know and which knows them. Consequently there is a powerful emphasis on continuity and progression.

We are continually expanding our links with local businesses and industry and have recently become part of BP's Schools Link programme. In 1997 and again in 2000 we were one of a very few schools in the country to gain the nationally recognized Curriculum Award for our work in Community Education. We are a link school with Cambridge University and help train new teachers who are on their PGCE Course. All of our pupils take part in the Trident Community Challenge programme with many of them achieving the Gold Award. We have a large number of business people who come into school to mentor and support our pupils. Woodlands was the first school in Essex to gain the nationally prestigious Investor in People Award. We also recently gained the Sportsmark Award in recognition of our excellent PE and sports programme as well as gaining Artsmark Gold for excellence within the Arts.
