AROE Awards Evening
Congratulations to our many AROE Award winners!
On the 11th of June, we hosted our annual AROE awards evening, welcoming parents/carers of our award winners to celebrate their achievement. Pupils made and served finger food and drinks while other pupils showed off their talents by singing and playing instruments.
MP Visit
Today we were pleased to welcome MP, James McMurdock to our school. Our Head Boy and Girl and Deputies gave him a tour of the school which left him impressed.
Geography Trip to Stratford
On 21st May, some of our Year 10 pupils completed a data collection in Stratford, London to compare quality of life in preparation for their GCSE exams. Pupils felt very proud of their resilience asking members of the public to complete questionnaires.

Jack Petchey
On 12th May, 6 of our pupils were awarded a Jack Petchey award for being an outstanding achiever. Zara M, Christine P, Lorenzo B, Tilly M, Orla C and Aida D were all voted for by their peers and staff members.

Maths Feast Competition
On Friday 14th March, 8 of our Year 10 mathematicians took part in the Maths Feast Competition at James Hornsby School. They took part in rounds that tested their mathematical problem-solving skills and knowledge. Our pupils stood out for their kindness and respect for each other.

Crondon Golf Park
On the 5th of March, our Year 10 hospitality and catering pupils visited Crondon Park Golf Club to work with staff on events. They completed two activities which included setting up tables for a 3 course meal for a wedding taking place later this week. Pupils also got to inspect the site accommodation rooms. Pupils then got to tour the complex and have a Q&A with the events team and Sous Chef before enjoying a 2 course meal.

Germany Trip
On February 14th, 44 of our Year 10 and 11 pupils visited Koln, Germany.
They visited many amazing places, including a chocolate factory, a cathedral and the House of History.

Sustainability Club Tree Planting
On Friday 7th and Monday 10th February, our Sustainability club members spent their days planting trees on school ground. Our Sustainability club aims to encourage environmental awareness and community involvement amongst pupils. The event was organised and run by Essex County Council.
Sustainability Club members are currently taking part in an Essex County Council pilot for their ClimActivists scheme whereby pupils complete environmental/wellbeing activities to earn badges of different levels, this tree planting event was a great activity to put towards their bronze badge.

Museum of the Moon
On Wednesday 5th February. The KS3 Art club visited the Museum of the Moon exhibit in St Martins church.
Pupils were encouraged to explore the installation, by listening to the accompanying soundtrack and laying underneath the structure. In addition, the pupils could draw and respond to the art work. We will be developing the art works in the next Ks3 art club!

Year 11 Preparing for Success Evening
On Thursday 23rd January, we hosted our Year 11 Preparing for Success Evening. We invited parents, carers and pupils to talk about revision, attendance, PPEs and applying to Post-16. The evening outlined how to be successful in the next steps for our Year 11s.

Department for Work and Pensions Workshop
On Thursday the 16th of January, our Year 8 pupils took part in a Department for Work and Pensions workshop that supports them with selecting their Options. The workshop is designed to allow pupils to explore the careers that their intended options can lead to. This was a really exciting and important opportunity for pupils.
