Maths Inspiration Show
On December 1st, some of our Year 11 pupils visited the Matilda Theatre in London for a Maths Inspiration Show. The show included talks from Zoe Griffiths, Cambridge engineer, Hugh Hunt and mathematician and professional juggler, Colin Wright.
Pupils left excited, laughing, and inspired by how creative and engaging maths can be.

GCSE Certificate Collection
GCSE Certificate Collection Evening
On the 26th of November, we welcomed back last years Year 11 pupils to collect their GCSE Certificates. It was a busy evening seeing many familiar faces and finding out how well our pupils have done since leaving Woodlands.

Habitat Mapping
On Tuesday 18th November, some of our Sustainability club pupils worked with visitors from the RHS Hyde hall to complete a habitat mapping activity for Woodlands School.
Pupils investigated the habitats on our school grounds and then uploaded their findings to the National Education Nature Parks website.
Pupils also tulips and daffodils in our Wellbeing Garden.

National Portrait Gallery
On Thursday 13th November, Year 10 GCSE pupils visited the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The pupils completed a treasure hunt of artwork across the 3 floors of the gallery as well as choosing a piece of art to answer analytical questions about and draw visual responses.

High House Production Park
On the 13th of November, Year 7 and 8 APT pupils attended a trip to the High House Production Park.
Students were given a tour of the facilities and enjoyed a masterclass workshop on costume design.

Year 10 Mock Interviews
On the 11th and 12th of November, our Year 10 pupils took part in mock interviews conducted by volunteers from the local community.
The volunteers represented a wide range of professions, including banking, estate agency, education, architecture and many more.

Armistice Day
Yesterday we honoured Armistice Day with a two-minute silence.
Our pupils showed great respect and pride, with many wearing their cadet and scout uniforms and poppies.

Jack Petchey
On the 7th of November, 3 of our pupils were awarded a Jack Petchey award for being an outstanding achiever.
Lacey H, Saule I and Scarlett P were all voted for by their peers and staff members.

Talking Learning
Today we held our Talking Learning event.
Pupils and staff sat down to look through pupils’ workbooks and discuss learning.
This event was a great way for pupils to receive key feedback on how to improve even further as well as ask staff questions.

Anglo European School Trip
On Friday 10th October, some of our Year 11 pupils visited Anglo European School to explore sixth form routes available.
Our pupils enjoyed a lesson that challenged them, visited the Sixth Form Fair to speak to staff and students about the courses on offer and also heard from some of our former Year 11 pupils who now attend AES

Southend Art Galleries Trip
On Wednesday 15th October, 52 of our Year 9 pupils explored Southend City centre to photograph and discuss the Southend City Jam street artwork. They also visited the Beecroft Art Gallery to analyse their current exhibitions.
On the way home, the pupils also got to visit the current exhibit at The Focal Point Gallery, an immersive and interactive series of works. This visit also allowed pupils to see Southend College and library for possible post-16 links.

Head Teachers Commendation Awards
Congratulations to Alexandru, Amelia, Daniel, Lilas, Lottie, Sienna and Tiara for winning a Head Teachers Commendation Award.
The pupils were nominated by staff members for various amazing reasons.
Year 11 Mock Interviews
On the 7th and 8th of October, our Year 11 pupils participated in mock interviews designed to prepare them for the next stages beyond Woodlands.
The interviews helped pupils develop their confidence and communication skills. The interviewers were highly impressed with the pupils' professionalism. Many pupils also established valuable connections within their chosen career fields.
