The Speech and Language Provision at Woodlands school is a vital part of our Learning Development Faculty. This provision provides additional support and guidance to access the mainstream curriculum and improve pupil's speech, language, and communication.
Woodlands Enhanced Provision is funded by Essex County Council and includes direct regular input from a qualified speech and language therapist, classroom support, curriculum intervention, social skills development, and widespread pastoral support.
All pupils within Woodlands Enhanced Provision are included in mainstream classes and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life. Their academic achievements are monitored closely by the Enhanced Provision Lead who has regular communication with parents/carers, staff, and pupils. This creates consistency and clarity when working to meet pupils’ needs. Teaching staff across the school use evidence-based strategies to support with speech and language development in each subject area.
This provision is only for pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan which identifies speech and language as a primary need. Admission to the Enhanced Provision is coordinated by Essex County Council, all requests for places must be made via SEND Operations.
